A Spontaneous Evening in Washington, D.C. | Spring Vaca 2019 Phase 03
A Spontaneous Evening in Washington, D.C.
Spring Vaca 2019, Phase 03
A few weeks back Jackson and I were talking about how we hadn’t been to D.C. yet together, and how we would love to do that at some point!
Therefore, we very spontaneously decided (as in, the morning we were leaving) that instead of driving the full trip from NC to NY in one day, we’d rather drive to D.C., stay the night there, and then complete the trip home the next day!
I am so glad that we opted to do this! Jackson hadn’t yet really visited D.C., and I hadn’t been in many years, so it was a huge joy for us to get to walk the streets, eat some good food, and enjoy some of the sights together.
We arrived in D.C. just as the sun was setting, and after settling in our hotel (just two blocks from the Capital Building!) we set off for an evening walk to see some sights and get some dinner.
I had forgotten just how beautiful D.C. is. It doesn’t quite take first place for my favorite city (hey Seattle), but it’s definitely up there on my list! The abundant flowers lining the sidewalks, the truly massive and very impressive architecture and monuments, the bike paths running right through the middle of the streets, the endless options for dining, the countless number of museums to visit. . .it truly is a place you could spend an entire week visiting and still not get enough!
Anyways, this was a very special and spontaneous stop for Jackson and I. AND, I got to work on my night photography! I huge challenge for me, but I’m very proud of how these turned out!
