Thanksgiving is easily one of my favorite holidays. Growing up we would always travel out to my Grandparents’ home in PA and bundle up for a cozy weekend at their place with lots of comfort food and laughter. The fire would be blazing, I would wear my fuzzy socks and a sweater, and my sisters and I would hunt down the bowls (yes, multiple bowls) of mashed potatoes to make sure there were enough for the copious amounts we would be inhaling.

At Thanksgiving Dinner we would each be asked to say what we were thankful for. As a kid this tradition always annoyed me because it kept me away from the mashed potatoes, stuffing, and gravy for a few minutes longer. Can anyone relate? Please tell me I’m not the only one with an unhealthy obsession with mashed potatoes.

Now, as an adult (kind of?), I find this exercise refreshing. It helps me refocus and think on all I have to be thankful for. In this post I want to list just a handful of things I have to be thankful for, and hopefully it will inspire you to think on what you have to be thankful for as well. Then when Thanksgiving dinner rolls around we all will have our answers prepared so we can dive into the mashed potatoes all the sooner! (Just me? Okay.)

My family

I am thankful for my family. I am thankful that no matter how far we go (even as far as South Africa), we can still come together and feel like nothing has changed. I am thankful for the gift of 3 sisters, even if it meant my poor father being surrounded by women for the past 20+ years. Although, he has Jackson now so I don’t feel so badly anymore!

Jackson

I am thankful for Jackson. I am thankful for how calm, steady, and consistent he is. I am thankful for his patience (while I lack it) and knowledge of business/finance (because this business would be a failure if it was just me). I am thankful for his faith and ability to always listen first and speak when necessary. God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought Jackson into my life.

Our new home

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED our little trailer, but there’s something so nice about having solid walls and floors that don’t shake all the way into the bedroom when the washer/dryer is running. I’m thankful that we’re able to live where we are—so close to our friends, family, and church. I’m thankful that we haven’t had any major repairs yet (because I know they’re inevitable with home ownership).

My Faith

Guys, I don’t know what you believe, but I would be nothing without my faith. Before Jesus I was selfish, impatient (though I still struggle with this, lol), obsessed with all the wrong things, and had no direction in life. I will never claim to now have it all figured out, but with Jesus I am okay with that whereas before I wasn’t. I’m okay with not knowing the next step because as long as I stay focused on Him I know everything will be alright. I’m becoming more patient because I’m always learning that God’s plans are FAR better than my own. Jesus reminds me where my sails should be set, and with His winds filling my sails I have experienced far more goodness in my life than I could have following my own selfish desires. My faith is everything.

My KGp Couples

I am SO THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU. You have no idea what your trust in me means to me! YOU are the reason I am able to do what I love for a job. YOU are the reason I’ve been able to travel so much this year. YOU are what makes my job so stinkin’ FUN!! Seriously you guys, I am so incredibly thankful for you. You’re all amazing. xx

Sully

Let me tell you, there are some things that only a cuddle from your pup can fix. I am so thankful we have him.

What are you thankful for this year? Comment down below, I would love to hear!

Enjoy the mashed potatoes this Thanksgiving! I know I will!
